Darkwood

Over the break, one of the books that I read was Darkwood by M. E. Breen. I thought that the settings for this book were really creative and unknown to most fiction writings. The story revolves around a thirteen year old girl, who after escaping from abusive family members finds herself in a battle for her own survival fighting both human and animal monsters. I thought that Breen's version of night (a void of utter blackness that blankets the land in seconds) was really creative, original and captivating for the reader. This book was a very quick read and not very deep, and I would recommend this 289 paged book to anyone looking for a easy book with a compelling plot.
