First Grave on the Right

Don'd judge the cover. Also WARNING this is a girls book. I really wouldn't recommend it for guys.

Also, this is gonna be short because I got a new book.

This week I read First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones, personally I thought it was a great book, and I loved how witty the main character was, and the plot was really interesting. Charley Davidson is the grim reaper. Meaning she can see ghosts and the ghosts see her. Instead of hiding from her ability she uses it to solve cases, giving relief to the dead. That was my favorite part. This book, though has A LOT of adult content, romance and some strange views. You have been warned. If you are a girl and you like supernatural/ghost romances read this book.

Skullduggery Pleasent

Ha ha ha, I almost forgot about this assignment. This week I read the series Skullduggery Pleasant by Derik Landy. I really, really like this series, its like an english crossover between percy jackson and fiction mysteries. It was awesome, each and every book was new and original and the characters are well developed and evolved. The first book, Skullduggery Pleasant is about a girl trying to get to the middle of the her uncles death, when she comes across the knowledge that he was not all she remembered. Probable a one week book, I would recommend this book to anyone fond of fun, non-romancy, fast packed, original, mystery books.

Sabriel

This week, I read Sabriel by Garth Nix, this book was really cool and engaging. Sabriel's father is a necromancer, the Abhorsen. Like the rest of his line, he is dedicated to fighting living dead, returning them through the gates of death. Sabriel has grown up in a boarding school, far away from the living dead and the responsibilities of her line. But when her father goes missing, trapped in the world of the dead, she has no choice but to go looking for him. This book was awesome, it was written in an intelligent voice and the characters were all twisted, likable and dark. I really liked the combination of fantasy and modern ideas, how two worlds could be combined into one. One of magic and one of technology. My favorite part though was the storyline; because of its originality, it was engrossing and somewhat confusing, which added to the plot. I would recommend this book to anyone fond of His Dark Materials and Eragon.

Leviathan

This weekend, I read Leviathan by Scott Westerfield, and for the record, it was awesome! Told in the perspectives of an exiled heir, and a female pilot in training, this book was an awesome take on world war I. Genetically engineered animals and wicked steam-punk machines are the weapons of choice in the early 1900s. Europe is in war, counties are fighting against each other, the darwinists verses the inventors. Deryn, more commonly known as Dylan is a darwinist, Alek is not only an inventor, but the heir to an empire. When the their paths cross, the two find themselves fighting side by side with their enemy. This book was amazing, I loved how Westerfield described the creatures in his books and how he filled it with such original ideas. The characters were relatable and they all had some really interesting and original perspectives in the story. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys adventures and steampunk, with the recommendation that it would be a one week book. Also... the illustrations were awesome!

Blood Red Road

On sunday, I read the Blood Red Road by Moira Young. Having randomly found this book in the school library, I really, really enjoyed it. The story is amazingly written, completely original, and it carries an original perspective throughout the entire story. Zaba has never left her home in silver lake; growing up with her father, twin brother and her little sister. But after four cloaked men kidnap her brother, Zaba is forced to leave behind everything she has ever known in order to find him. I thought this story was amazing, I loved how the dialogue of the book supported Zaba's personality by being written in her style of speech and how the world was both so similar and different to the one we live in. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys gritty, exiting books with the warning that it does involve some violent and gruesome activities, instances.

The Infernal Devices

This week, I read the Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare. After already reading the Mortal Instruments, I am quite hooked on her books. Taking place around the 1800s, this book is about a girl named Theresa Grey, who, after being kidnapped, struggles to understand a whole new world, one that resides just under the surface, its blending in with modern life. Although filled with vampires, warlocks, demons, werwolves and automatons, this steampunkey book is NOT like Twilight. I really like Cassandra Clare's writing, its funny exiting and filled with intriguing dialogue. Her books are filled with hundreds of little plot twists, that are both aggravating and addicting. Probably a one week book, I would recommend this book to fans of Legend, and Divergent.

YES!!!
Yes, yes, yes, YES! My last post! it is truly wonderful! No more slices! No more constantly strangling my mind for new ideas or phrasings. Honestly, this is like the sixth post I have done that talks about the horrors of slicing, (my dearest apologies to any teachers unlucky enough to be reading this, but its true). True, this assignment has had its ups... and downs, I liked reading everything, but I'm so done with these slices. A month is enough for me. It feels WONDERFUL to finally be finished, or at least I will be finished after I post this. Victory! I have won the game! 31 slices. its wonderful! Because I feel like celebrating I will insert small versions of all the 'cool' pictures that I posted on my blog this past month! The snow flake is my favorite.
